On Sunday, June 8, 2025, DBE in Kansas gathered for a festive afternoon to celebrate the birthday of King Charles III. Hosted at the scenic Bourgmont Winery in Bucyrus, KS, the celebration ran from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

​DBE in Kansas 1st State Vice President Ann McElhenny opened the event with a warm welcome. Next, State President Lynette Chastain led attendees in reciting the organization's motto and singing the Anglo-American Anthem before enjoying a delightful selection of savory treats brought by chapter members.

Guests raised their glasses with a champagne toast to His Majesty King Charles III, honoring the monarch's birthday with British tradition and elegance. In true royal fashion, strawberries and cream and celebratory cupcakes added a sweet touch to the occasion.

Alicia Cole gave an engaging presentation on Jane Austen, delighting attendees with insights into one of England’s most beloved authors. The owner of Bourgmont Winery also offered a heartfelt welcome, sharing how their vineyard's English grape varieties reflect those used in traditional British wines—a nod to the shared heritage between England and Kansas winemakers.

After the celebration, many guests enjoyed guided tours of the winery, taking in the beautiful surroundings and learning more about the winemaking process in the heart of the Kansas countryside.
